Sorry mango. I wasn’t disagreeing with your point which is completely valid . Women had been ignored by the posters. I was just trying to call for balance i suppose.A swing one way or the other isb’t good.
Lena Headley would also be a good call. She’d have to be popular with the crowd id imagine.
But my favourite so far has to be R2D2. Everyone loves R2D2

Harlan Ellison would be great, haha prob not too much of a SAFE master of ceremonies choice, but one I would always love to see. John Scalzi would be a great choice for any Con, but I think I would most like to see Spider Robinson host any SF convention in the near future.

FTR, I wasn’t suggesting that gender and/or race/ethnicity are more important than talent. I started with the idea that it had to be some one who would do a good job (and not charge). At least I thought I made that clear in my first comment. I also think it a bad idea to exclude any one because of a demographic trait, so white men should not be excluded either. I like the suggestion of Summer Glau, although I don’t know if she has any MC experience. Just thought of Lena Headey, whose MC experience also is unknown to me.

Give the job to someone because they’ll be good not because they are a woman or black.
But I’d pay to see Idris Elba do it. Put him up in full armour and he’d get the crowds attention.
Hardcore scifi fans might appreciate someone like Summer Glau. Both a terminator and an ass kicking super soldier in a space ship.
